Kenai-Nikiski alumni skate past Soldotna-Skyview

The Kenai-Nikiski alumni hockey team defeated Soldotna-Skyview 10-5 at the Soldotna Regional Sports Complex on Friday.

Kenai-Nikiski grabbed a 2-0 lead after the first period, with goals going to Riley Graves, on assists from Zack Burnett and Matthew Thompson, and Philip Ischi, on assists from Jacob Begich and Billy Forrest.

Just 25 seconds into the second period, Dylan Walton, assisted by Wyatt Medcoff and Lee Green, cut it to 2-1.

But Kenai-Nikiski boosted the lead to 4-1 on goals from Forrest, assisted by Begich and Hunter Erwin, and John McGlasson, assisted by Dalton Dosko.

With 8:41 left in the second period, Medcoff, assisted by Kevin Stone, cut it to 4-2. But Kenai-Nikiski would lead 6-2 before the period was done. Dosko, assisted by Jed McGlasson, and Begich, assisted by Ischi and Trevor Baldwin, had the tallies.

Clayton Glick, assisted by Dagen Walton, scored just 17 seconds into the third period for Soldotna-Skyview, but Jed McGlasson, assisted by Thompson, answered.

Soldotna-Skyview had it to 7-5 with 13:00 left in the third period, with goals coming Preston Weeks unassisted and from Mario Gomez on an assist from Tim Flanders.

But Kenai-Soldotna closed with three straight goals. Dosko scored unassisted, Forrest scored on assists from Ischi and Begich, and Graves scored unassisted.

Ben Mills played in net for Kenai-Nikiski, while Josh Tree was the tender for Soldotna-Skyview.
