Travis Cooper, a 2015 graduate of Kenai Central, will have an opportunity to compete against the world in biathlon.

At the Youth/Junior World Team Trials and Youth Olympic Games Trials at Kincaid Park in Anchorage from Dec. 27 to 30, Cooper competed in the Junior Men division and qualified for both teams.

Cooper will compete at the Youth/Junior World Championships from Jan. 25 to Feb. 2 in Cheile Gradistei, Romania, and the 2016 Winter Youth Olympic Games from Feb. 12 to 21 in Lillehammer, Norway.

Cooper joined the National Guard after his high school skiing career to pursue biathlon. In his senior year of high school, Cooper won the 7.5-kilometer classic at the state high school ski meet.
