The Kenai Central volleyball team went on the road to record a pair of Southcentral Conference victories Friday and Saturday.
The Kardinals are now 3-0 in the league and 6-0 in nontournament play.
Kenai defeated Redington 25-18, 25-14 and 25-21 on Friday and Houston 25-6, 25-14 and 25-11 on Saturday.
Against Redington, Sophie Tapley had 10 kills, while Stella Selanoff had nine, Kate Wisnewski had four, and Avia Miller, Ellsi Miller, Sarah Baisden and Gracee Every all had two.
Brynnen Hansen had 37 digs for Kenai, while Selanoff had 29, Ellsi Miller had eight and Wisnewski had five.
Wisnewski notched 33 assists, while Hansen also had five assists. Baisden and Selanoff each had three aces.
Against Houston, Tapley had 16 kills, while Avia Miller had 12, Selanoff had five and Ellsi Miller had four.
Selanoff had 24 digs, while Hansen had 21, and Avia Miller and Gracee Every each had six.
Wisnewski had 31 assists, while Selanoff and Ellsi Miller each had three aces, and Sarah Baisden had two aces.
Seward notches conference sweeps on road
The Seward volleyball team went on the road to defeat Houston on Friday and Redington on Saturday in Southcentral Conference action. The Seahawks are now 2-0 in the league.
Seward defeated Houston 25-12, 25-15 and 25-12. The Seahawks defeated Redington 25-12, 25-19 and 25-20.
Homer finishes 3rd at Southeast tourney
The Homer volleyball team finished third at the Southeast Super Slamma Jamma Volleyball Tournament in Sitka on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
In pool play Thursday and Friday, Homer finished 11-5.
The Mariners defeated Mt. Edgecumbe 25-18, 25-21, lost to Nome 26-24, beat Nome 25-22, beat Juneau-Douglas 25-13, lost to Juneau 25-17, beat Ketchikan 25-14, 25-12, beat Grace Christian 25-18, 25-16, lost to Valdez 25-12, beat Valdez 25-23, lost to Sitka 25-18, 25-18, and beat Monroe Catholic 25-20, 27-17.
That result in pool play put Homer in the King Salmon Division on Saturday.
Homer started out bracket play by losing to Sitka. The Mariners then came back to defeat Mt. Edgecumbe and Nome for third place.
Homer head coach Ian Overson wrote in a text message that it was a great tournament for his team.
He wrote Rebecca Trowbridge and Alysha Nyvall led in assists, while Channing Lowney and Reilly Sue Baker led in kills. Leading in digs were Bella Loboy, Baker and Lowney.
The coach also wrote that blocking improved tremendously throughout the tournament. Maddy Miotke, Maya Diaz, Gracey Bradshaw, Nyvall and Lowney all contributed in that department.
