Kenai boys swimmers 2nd, Kenai girls 3rd at Wasilla Invite

The Kenai Central boys were second and the Kardinals girls were third Saturday at the Wasilla Invite.

The Colony girls won with 136 points, while Palmer had 92, Kenai had 82 and Wasilla had 14.

The Knights also won on the boys side with 176, while the Kardinals had 70, the Moose had 47 and the Warriors had 29.

Abigail Price won the 200-yard freestyle for the Kards in 1 minute, 59.71 seconds, and the 100 free in 55.63; Isla Crouse won the 200 IM in 2:30.96 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:17.58; and Sierra Hershberger won the 50 freestyle in 26.84.

The Kenai girls team of Price, Crouse, Ra’ah Roady and Hershberger also won in the 200 free relay at 1:49.22.

In the top six for the Kenai girls were Emma Castimore in the 200 free in sixth at 2:22.04, Michelle Duffield in sixth in the 200 IM in 2:56.21, Hershberger in third in the 100 freestyle in 1:00.42, Castimore in the 500 free in third at 6:10.90, and Duffield in the 100 breast in fourth at 1:32.75.

Also, the 200 medley relay of Meriedi Morrison, Crouse, Hershberger and Price was third in 2:05.24, the 200 free relay of Morrison, Duffield, Lucy Anderson and Castimore was fifth in the 200 free relay at 2:04.19, and the 400 free relay of Roady, Castimore, Anderson and Duffield was third in the 400 free relay at 4:22.72.

In the top six for the Kenai boys were Benjamin Merritt in second in the 200 free at 2:14.82, David Price in third in the 200 IM in 2:16.68, Vincent Moore in fourth in the 200 IM at 2:33.05, Lyman McBride in fifth in the 50 free at 25.15, Jacob Merritt in sixth in the 50 free at 25.43, Benjamin Merritt in fourth in the 100 butterfly at 59.07, Everett Poulin in fifth in the 100 butterfly at 1:06.15, Peyton Katzenberger in the 500 free in third at 6:01.64, McBride in the the 100 backstroke in third at 1:04.56, Jacob Merritt in the 100 backstroke in fourth at 1:08.08, Price in third in the 100 breast at 1:07.00, and Fletcher Darr in fourth in the 100 breast at 1:17.63.

Also, the 200 medley relay of Jacob Merritt, Price, Benjamin Merritt and McBride was second in 1:59.49, the 200 medley relay of Poulin, Katzenberger, Moore and Darr was fourth in 2:06.80, the 200 free relay of Poulin, Moore, Darr and Katzenberger was fifth in the 200 free relay at 1:51.01, and the 400 free relay of Benjamin Merritt, Jacob Merritt, McBride and Price was second in 3:44.97.
