The six softball teams of the Northern Lights Conference softball tournament will battle for two Division II state berths today and Saturday at the Soldotna Little League fields.

The Division II state softball tournament is at the South Davis Park Complex in Fairbanks from June 2 to 4.

The tournament is true double elimination. The two teams in Saturday’s 3 p.m. final will be the state qualifiers.

Homer has won the NLC tournament four straight times and also has gone to state 20 times in the last 21 years.

The Mariners are the No. 2 seed this season behind Kodiak. The Bears lost to Homer 18-17 last year in the NLC tournament final, so Kodiak claimed the other state berth.

Palmer is the No. 3 seed, Soldotna is No. 4, Kenai is No. 5 and Houston is No. 6.
