The Homer hockey team split a pair of contests with Bartlett over the weekend.

Homer won 4-3 in overtime Friday, its second overtime win in a row, just four days after the Mariners toppled Soldotna 3-2 in extra minutes.

On Saturday, the Golden Bears won 5-3.

The results left Homer with a 4-15-1 record this season.

Friday’s clash turned out to be a thriller. Trailing 3-2 lead late in the third period, Bartlett scored with 13 seconds left in regulation on a strike by Alex DeHart to force sudden-death overtime. In the eight-minute period, it only took 1:39 before Dimitry Kuzmin slipped the puck past Bartlett goalie George Seidel to clinch the victory.

Kuzmin added an assist to his sheet, while Robby Larson tallied a pair of goals for Homer. Douglas Dean also scored for the Mariners.

Seidel stopped 25 of 29 shots on goal for Bartlett, while Homer goalie Hunter Warren saved 23 of 26 shots.

Homer will host Kenai Central on Thursday.
