Gibson leads Peninsula at Besh Cup 2

Kenai Central sophomore Addison Gibson had the top Peninsula performance Sunday at Besh Cup 2 at Kincaid Park in Anchorage.

Gibson finished sixth in the five-kilometer Under-16 and Under-14 mass start freestyle girls race. Gibson finished at 17:31, while Molly Gellert won at 16:34. Also from the Peninsula, Soldotna’s Kellie Arthur was 26th at 20:07.

In the Under-16 and Under-14 mass start freestyle boys race, Soldotna’s Koby Vinson paced the Peninsula by finishing 10th in 15:37, while Gus Schumacher won at 13:36. Also from the Peninsula, Jeremy Kupferschmid was 23rd at 16:35.

In the men’s 15-kilometer mass start freestyle, former Homer skier Andre Lovett paced the Peninsula by taking 22nd in 35:40, while Scott Patterson was the winner at 32:27. Also from the Peninsula, Soldotna’s Levi Michael was 44th in 37:54, SoHi’s John-Mark Pothast was 48th in 38:31, SoHi’s Addison Downing was 67th in 42:17, Homer’s Jacob Davis was 70th in 42:21 and Homer’s Tadhg Scholz was 76th in 43:50.

In the women’s 10-kilometer mass start freestyle, Soldotna graduate Bree Mucha led the way for the Peninsula by taking 12th in 25:27, while Jessica Yeaton won at 22:05. Also from the Peninsula, SoHi graduate Sadie Fox was 21st in 26:42, SoHi’s Hannah Pothast was 30th in 27:46 and Homer’s Sarah Wolf was 46th in 30:06.
