Friday baseball: Soldotna loses, Homer wins

The visiting Soldotna baseball team lost an 8-5 decision to Colony on Friday in nonconference play.

The Stars are now 9-6 overall.

The Knights grabbed an 8-2 lead after two innings and were able to hold off SoHi.

Trenton Ohnemus gave up eight runs — six earned — in two innings. Derrick Jones then shut out the Knights the rest of the way on two hits, walking five and striking out five.

Colby Sturman was 2 for 2 for the Stars, while Jayden Stuyvesant had a pair of RBIs.

Homer 16, Redington 1

The host Mariners enacted the mercy rule after three innings in Northern Lights Conference play against the Huskies.

Homer is now 2-8 in the league and 2-9 overall.

Henry Wedvick went all three innings for Homer, giving up an unearned run on no hits while walking one and striking out seven.

For the Mariners, Clyde Clemons was 2 for 3 with two runs, CJ Burns was 2 for 2 with two runs and three RBIs, Wedvick scored two runs, Camden Wise was 2 for 2 with two runs and two RBIs, Zach Marley scored two runs and Brock Barth had three RBIs.
