Four Soldotna High School seniors put pen to paper Wednesday morning in a National Signing Day ceremony at SoHi.

Another current college player from Nikiski made a big step up in her career.

Two players on the five-time defending state champion Soldotna football team are headed to Division II Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, New Mexico. Offensive guards Kyle Marcuson and Aseli Finau both signed on to play for the Greyhounds. Marcuson took home the Northern Lights Conference Lineman of the Year award in 2016, while Finau was a first team All-Conference member.

SoHi senior Drewe Zeek also signed her letter of intent to play volleyball at Wenatchee Valley (Washington) Community College. Zeek was an All-Conference first-team member of the Stars volleyball team last year, where she terrorized opposing teams as a middle hitter.

Abi Tuttle also signed a letter of intent to play soccer at Lane Community College in Eugene, Oregon. The Titans capped a 13-4-3 season last year with an appearance in the Northwest Athletica Conference quarterfinals for a third straight year. Tuttle was a second-team All-Conference player her sophomore year and a first-team All-Conference player last season.

Rachel Thompson, a 2015 Nikiski graduate, also announced she will be leaving Highline College (Washington) after two years there to play soccer with the Washington State Cougars, a Division I squad. As a goalkeeper at Highline, Thompson dominated the net by setting a school-record shutout streak of 11 games, a streak that lasted 1,104 minutes. In two seasons, Thompson recorded 26 shutouts.
