Letter to the editor: Repeal SB 91

After reading the article about property crime and auto theft increases in the Anchorage Daily News, I have come to one very important conclusion: Senate Bill 91 needs to be repealed.

When drug addicts from other states come here for the protection of this law, it sends a message loud and clear. When the crimes of auto theft increase so rapidly, it also sends a message that something is wrong. The problem seems to be the fact that the thieves believe they will not be prosecuted. This might be an encouragement for people to steal to support their lifestyles.

We need to get together with our state and local leaders and get SB 91 repealed.
