Man gets 100 years in prison in sexual assault case

The Kenai Superior Court sentenced Kevin Tuckfield, 35, to serve 100 years for sexual assault in the first degree and assault in the third degree last Wednesday, according to a press release from the state Department of Law.

The charges were related to a 2014 incident in which Tuckfield sexually assaulted a female civilian employee while working in the Spring Creek Correctional Center library in Seward, the release said.

At the time of the assault, Tuckfield was incarcerated for a prior sexual assault conviction.

The release also says Tuckfield has two additional cases pending trial in Anchorage. In one case, he is charged with murder in the first and second degrees. In the second case, he is charged with escape, attempted kidnapping and robbery in the first degree.

According to the release, Tuckfield faced the maximum sentence for a single offense — 99 years — since the incident was his third felony sexual assault conviction. He was given one additional year of consecutive jail time for the assault in the third degree conviction.
