A Kenai teen has been airlifted to Anchorage with serious injuries after a single-vehicle crash Thursday morning on the Kenai Spur Highway.

Alaska State Troopers got a report of the accident just after 6:15 a.m. Thursday near mile 17 of the Kenai Spur Highway, according to an online troopers dispatch. They found that 19-year-old Kiana Edgmon of Kenai had been driving southbound in a Dodge truck when she crossed the highway’s center line and overcorrected, which caused the truck to slide into the ditch.

“The truck rolled over, pinning Edgmon under the truck,” troopers wrote in the report. “Medics were able to lift the truck and extricate Edgmon.”

She was taken to an Anchorage hospital by a LifeMed helicopter, they wrote. Edgmon was the only person in the truck, and the investigation is still ongoing, according to the dispatch.

Medics from the Nikiski Fire Department and Kenai Police responded to the accident along with troopers.
