Finalists were announced Tuesday for the second annual contest to design “I Voted” stickers for City of Soldotna polling places. Public voting will be open until July 20 to determine the winners, who will be announced at the Progress Days Block Party on July 26.
There are three finalists each for the three age groups in the contest. Artists between 13 and 18 are “Youth”; artists older than 18 are “Adult”; and younger artists are “Future Voters.” A Facebook post by the city says that there were 49 submissions across all categories, and a jury selected the finalists.
All of the designs are submitted by Kenai Peninsula Borough residents, and each was required to feature “an original design that celebrates voting and Soldotna, Alaska.” Generative AI and stock photos are banned from the competition and the stickers also cannot reference candidates or parties.
Stickers display wildlife, the Kenai River, mountains and a couple of American flags. Most are hand drawn, while a couple of the adult designs were created digitally. To vote, visit soldotna.org/stickercontest. More information about the contest can be found at the same site.
