Recovery Road
By Bonnie Marie Playle, Soldotna
This road called Recovery,
what a road it can be,
with its hills, dales and valleys.
Some are short, while some are long,
all are attainable if I remain strong.
My reliance on God is the key,
always trust in Him and I shall be free.
Loving others through their difficult times
easy-no, but blessings-huge sometimes.
Be happy, with a stiff upper lip,
constantly strong, so you don’t slip.
Negative actions and negative thoughts
painful, hurtful memories are brought.
Drowning in the sea of fears and tears,
Divine whispers I begin to hear.
The key to good recovery is most definitely prayer.
To succeed without it,
most assuredly rare.
To think where I would be
without my Higher Power carrying me;
sends chills up and down my spine
I choose to leave the pain behind.
