Notes from the Recycling Bin

Did you know …

Today 600 million (yes million) shipping containers are moving around the world, carrying masses of merchandise. The average American creates 1,600 pounds of household garbage a year. Reduce waste by taking reusable bags shopping with you, buying products with less packaging, and doing without disposables.

Information provided by ReGroup, a nonprofit educational group, formed in 1989 to develop public awareness of waste reduction, reuse, and recycling benefits on Alaska’s Kenai Peninsula. This month ReGroup will meet Oct. 30 rather than Oct. 16, 6:30 p.m. at Hope Community Center on Princeton Avenue off Kalifornsky Beach Road. Find ReGroup on Facebook or contact at regroupkenaipeninsula@gmail.com.
