Soldotna High School Nordic Ski Team appreciates support

Through yet another challenging winter ski season, our Soldotna High School Nordic Ski Team supporters continued to offer encouragement and help to our student athletes. Adverse snow conditions created a problematic training situation and our team was especially grateful for the generosity of The Fitness Place who came through with flying colors to offer training options in a less than ideal snow situation. The Fitness Place has been helpful to the team for a number of years now and we are very appreciative of their support. Thank you!

Ski team travel and waxing supplies are expensive, particularly this season with Regions in Valdez. Fundraising is a must every year and we appreciate all those who purchased Holiday Wreaths to assist in that effort. We also rely heavily on the ever popular SoHi Star Card sales to fund various needs throughout the season. Many thanks to all those in our community who purchased those cards. Our thanks to Mykel’s Restaurant for the donation of the gift certificate, as well.

The SoHi Star Cards wouldn’t be possible without the generosity of the participating businesses. It is with much gratitude that we thank the following: Trustworthy Hardware, AK Bits & Bytes, Beemun’s Variety, Sweeney’s Clothing, the Auto Spa, Affinity Salon & Day Spa, the Duck Inn Restaurant, Arby’s, Etc. by Su, the Burger Bus, Odie’s Deli & Espresso, McDonald’s of the Kenai Peninsula, Sugar Magnolia’s, Froso’s, Tina’s Hair Pros, Sedona Florist, Robin Place Fabrics, Papa Murphy’s, Wilderness Way, NAPA Auto Parts, Orca Theater, Jersey Subs, Acapulco Restaurant, Pizza Hut, Kaladi Brothers, Bub’s Pizza, Señor Panchos, Heather & Heather Custom Screen Printing & Gifts, and True Blue Coffee.

We would be remiss if we did not thank the Tsalteshi Trails Association and particularly groomer extraordinaire, Bill Holt. Ski trails for training and racing require extensive maintenance and attention and we are fortunate to have the TTA providing support for our young people in their wintertime athletic endeavors. Faced with yet another low snow winter, Bill Holt and his crew worked their magic with the little bit of snow we had to make it skiable not only for our high school athletes, but for the entire skiing community, as well. Thank you!

Many thanks to all those volunteers, parents, and community members who made another challenging season a successful one and our apologies to any business who may have inadvertently been left out of the list above. We are grateful for your generosity and continued support of our young people. Thank you!
