A simple question for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Ninilchik Traditional Council — If you are allowed to gillnet 50 kings, 2,000 sockeye, 100 Dolly Varden and 50 rainbow trout, how does your gillnet in the Kenai River know the difference? How many rainbow trout will end up as collateral damage?

The Kenai River boasts one of the most magnificent rainbow trout fisheries in the state, if not the entire world. To allow gillneting in this river is the worst decision in fishery management history. Rainbow trout for subsistence? Who is running the asylum?
