Letter: Experience different than exposure

Experience different than exposure

The Peninsula Clarion published an article on Jan. 5 in which borough mayoral candidate Linda Hutchings said, “I’ve had excessive experience in government just because my parents were so involved.”

Political exposure is not political experience! Mrs. Hutchings equates exposure in “politics” with experience in governing. They are not the same!

Other than serving as Chair to the Parks &Recreation Board, what specific political experience in governing and leadership has Mrs. Hutchings had to date, that equips her to manage an $80-million dollar budget at this critical time?

The Kenai Peninsula cannot afford another inexperienced politician! We need and deserve a candidate with past political experience in governing, not exposure from her family’s political involvement in the 1960s. We need a strong, ethical leader that will not tax and spend money we don’t have.
