Family grateful for searchers’ efforts

The family of Leif Osmar would like to thank everyone involved in the search for Leif, who was lost at sea on September 9, 2014.

Special thanks to the Alaska National Guard, who had 2 helicopters flying day and night; the U.S. Coast Guard, who had the Coast Guard Cutter and aircraft searching for days; Trooper Webber and the rest of the Alaska State troopers; family friends pilot Dusty Van Meter, Rob and Chris Williams; Alaska State Parks employee Jacquie Erion, and many others.

Leif’s kayak, along with his beloved pet miniature beagles Haley and Ivan (found deceased) still wearing their small puppy life jackets, were recovered 2.8 miles off shore near the Sister rocks.

Leif remains missing.
