Book sale proceeds benefit Kenai library, community

“Let us tenderly and kindly cherish, therefore, the means of knowledge. Let us dare to read, think, speak, and write.” – John Adams, Founding Father and Second President of the United States

The Friends of the Kenai Community Library would like to thank our wonderful, generous community members and volunteers for a very successful book sale held Thursday, March 23 through Sunday, March 26, 2017 on site in the library meeting rooms.

Innumerable library discarded and community donated books, DVDs, jigsaw puzzles, and handmade jewelry and crocheting projects were sold to enthusiastic buyers frequenting each of the sale days while seeking bargains. Many new Friends memberships were received as well as monetary donations; these funds provide support and materials for the abundant variety of Kenai Community Library programs designed for youth, adults, and families, such as the summer reading programs, book clubs, sewing classes, cooking lessons, as well as many other popular programs and events representing every age group. The most current activities can be found at the following web links:

Volunteers and staff without whose generously donated time, expertise, logistics coordination, encouragement and general assistance this fundraiser would not have been possible include: Library Director Mary Jo Joiner, Mary White, Janina Efta, James Adcox, Ryanna Thurman, Joy Morgan, Susan Wesley, Amy Murrell-Haunold, Bethany McMilin, Lilly Knackstedt, and Tauna Meade; Mary Armstrong, Tom and Joan Corr, Shirley Farris, George Flemming, Becky Holloway, Connie Jung, Sherry Lewis, MJ Loveland and Ron Rogalsky, Kari Mohn, Nora Satathite, Barb Schmidt, Margaret Simon, Donna Steele and Lee Tanner, John Straughn, Martin Vandenburgh, and also Friends Board members President Dee Cassel, Barb Christian, Barbara Bogart, and Marj Wiley. Please accept our apologies if anyone was missed; it is not because we did not sincerely appreciate your participation but because we were also caught up in helping. Thank you so much.

We are fortunate to have a local library that is a hub of daily activity and served by knowledgeable, friendly staff and volunteers who love learning and sharing their skills and strengths with others. You are always welcome to join us!
