Sports Brief


Alumni basketball game set for Dec. 27

The alumni basketball game will be Dec. 27 at Kenai Central High School. The girls game will be at 5 p.m. and the boys game will be at 7 p.m.

Teams will be mixed and will be from all schools. The first 20 girls and boys players there will get to play on the teams. There will be no charge for players and fans to attend the game.

Hockey Alumni Game set for Friday

The annual hockey Alumni Game will be held Friday at 7 p.m. at the Soldotna Sports Center. The game will feature Kenai, Skyview and Soldotna players and also a puck chuck and split the pot.

Besh Cup races held at Bartlett

The first Besh Cup races of the year were held Saturday at Bartlett High School in Anchorage. The races were held in a sprint format.

In the men’s race, Soldotna graduate Brent Knight was 10th, Homer’s Morgan Jones was 31st, Kenai’s Christopher Hall was 32nd, Skyview graduate Noah King was 39th, Kenai’s Dustin Reid was 52nd, Soldotna’s Max Milliron was 59th, Homer’s Gus Beck was 63rd, Skyview’s Erick Romig was 67th, Skyview’s Lucas Thein was 68th, Soldotna’s Caleb Chase was 70th and Seward’s David Apperson was 77th.

In the women’s race, Homer graduate Aleta Phelps was 11th, Skyview graduate Stephanie Lambe was 23rd, Homer’s Erika Klaar was 26th, Soldotna graduate Katie Franzmann was 30th and Seward’s Sarah Glaser was 55th.

In the boys Junior 2 race, Kenai’s Trent Semmens was fifth and Skyview’s Tommy Honer was 22nd. In the girls Junior 2 race, Homer’s Claire Laukitis was ninth, Homer’s Emma Teal Laukitis was 11th and Soldotna Middle School’s Kailey Mucha was 23rd.
