HEA continues working on outages

Homer Electric Association crews spent the day Wednesday taking care of the small number of remaining power outages on the Kenai Peninsula following Tuesday's major snowstorm.

The storm dumped a large amount of heavy snow across the Kenai Peninsula, knocking out power to thousands of Homer Electric members.

HEA crews worked through the night on Tuesday and by about 4 a.m. on Wednesday the restoration effort was nearly complete in the central peninsula area.

On Wednesday, crews continued to work on small outages in Nikiski and Sterling and expected to have all HEA members in the area back on line by Wednesday evening.

HEA members without power should report the outage on HEA's outage hotline at 1-888-8OUTAGE.

HEA also is reminding people to stay away from any downed power line and report the downed line to Homer Electric. The lines are very dangerous and any contact with a power line can cause serious injury or death.
