Chambers set luncheon schedules
* The Soldotna Chamber of Commerce meets at noon on Tuesdays at Froso's Restaurant. For more information, call Michelle Glaves at 262-9814.
* The Kenai Chamber of Commerce will meet at noon Wednesday at the Merit Inn. Presentations will include the Kenai Peninsula Food Bank and Toys for Tots. For more information call 283-7989.
Sleep center opens in Soldotna
Sleep Centers of Alaska, a state of the art sleep care facility, has opened in Soldotna. The center does diagnostic testing for sleep disorders by a certified respiratory therapist, registered polysomnographic technician in a warm and comfortable environment and supplies all durable medical equipment, follow up and continuing care for those with lifetime needs. Sleep Centers of Alaska accepts all insurance plans, including Medicare, and offers a payment plan for out-of-pocket expenses.

New espresso stand opens
Jessica Vann of Soldotna has opened Deja Brew Espresso on Kalifornsky Beach Road just past KRSM, across from the Diamond M Ranch. Vann serves locally roasted Caf del Mundo espresso beans Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 to 6 p.m., Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information, visit http://www.myspace.com/dejabrewespresso. Vann is a lifelong Kenai Peninsula resident and graduated from Soldotna High School in 2006. Vann is currently working toward a business degree at KPC.
Book bus opens in Kenai
Writer and commercial fisherman Henry Kroll has opened a book bus at 513 Peninsula Ave. in Kenai. Hours are 1 to 5 p.m.; closed Sundays. The bus is stocked with gift baskets, recipe books, health, fitness, spiritual, weight loss, mystery, children's, romance, self-help, scientific, educational and science fiction.

Small Business Development Center sponsors seminars
The Alaska Small Business Development Center is sponsoring the following seminar:
* Build a business plan (1 to 4 p.m. Dec. 8) -- Learn methods to establish budgets, monetary amounts or percentages and how to evaluate your successes and failures. The fee is $25; registration deadline is today.

The following businesses will be participating in holiday food drives to benefit the Kenai Peninsula Food Bank:
GCI; Home Depot; IGA Country Foods; King's Treasures (bring in cans of food for a discount); Ninilchik Senior Citizens; Peninsula Health Center (for 25 pounds of food, an individual will receive a complete chiropractic examination and treatment; call 260-4844 for an appointment); Save U More; Sears catalog store; Spenard Builders (Kenai Millwork, Soldotna, K-Beach battle between the branches); Stanley Chrysler (help fill the truck in competition with Stanley Ford); Stanley Ford (help fill the truck in competition with Stanley Chrysler); United Rentals (help the Peninsula Branch beat other Alaska branches).
Donate to the Food Bank's savings account or bring nonperishable items for the barrel at the following locations: AlaskaUSA Credit Union; First National Bank Alaska; KeyBank; Wells Fargo.

Community Playground volunteers brighten city

Bar and gift shop offers free Wi-Fi
Que'ana Bar and Sleeping Lady Gifts would like to wish everyone a safe holiday season and a Happy New Year.
