Linda Beth Burgoyne
Homer resident Linda Beth Burgoyne died Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009, after a battle with cancer. She was 71.
A memorial service will be held in Jerome, Idaho, at a later date.
Mrs. Burgoyne was born Sept. 16, 1938, in Gooding, Idaho, to Arlie and Jack Edwards. She grew up in Dietrich, Idaho where she was active in 4-H, competed on the basketball team and went on to graduate valedictorian of her high school class. After graduation she attended the University of Idaho at Moscow, where she received her BA in Home Economics.
On Jan. 30, 1960, she married Ross Burgoyne. They moved to Anchorage in July 1965 where they lived and played until they retired to Homer in March 1997. Mrs. Burgoyne was a member of Homer Christian Church and of the FCE Homemakers club in Anchorage and Homer.
"She was a devoted and loving wife and mother who spent her time caring for her family, sewing, quilting and making all who came into her life feel welcomed and loved. She spent her last days at home surrounded by her loving husband and children," her family said.
Mrs. Burgoyne is survived by her husband, Ross; son, Curt Burgoyne and his wife, Kathy, of Anchorage; daughters, DeeAnn Arsement, and her husband, Derwood, of Duson, La., and Kim Renee Bridges and her husband, Billy, of Anchorage; grandchildren, Derwood and Dustin Arsement, Kawika Calina-Bridges, Kyle Bridges, Katrina, Stephen and Curt G.A. Burgoyne; and great-grandchildren, Morgan, Tyler and Lexi Bridges.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Homer Christian Church, 880 East End Rd., Homer, AK 99603, South Peninsula Hospital Home Health, 4300 Bartlett St., Homer, AK 99603 or Hospice of Homer, P.O. Box 4174, Homer, AK 99603.
Arrangements were made with Peninsula Memorial Chapel.
