Vendors sought

Booth space is available for the Kenai Peninsula Art Guild's Annual Arts and Crafts Bazaar on Thanksgiving weekend at Kenai Central High School, 9583 Kenai Spur Highway, Kenai.

Booth space rentals fund the Peninsula Art Guild's mission to provide support and venue for central peninsula artists through workshops, sales and gallery space at the Kenai Fine Arts Center, 816 Cook Street in Old Town Kenai, as well as scholarships for continuing education in the arts. Scholarship recipients are chosen through a competition and through art departments at five Central Peninsula high schools.

Juried watercolor exhibition planned

The Kenai Fine Arts Center Watercolor Group is seeking Kenai Peninsula water media painters to submit up to three original paintings created within the last two years and not shown in previous juried or judged exhibits. The opening reception will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Nov. 5.

Entries must be submitted in person to the KFAC, 816 Cook Street, Kenai from Oct. 28 through Oct. 31 from noon to 6 p.m. For more information or to request a prospectus and application call 283-7040.

The jurors will be Skyview High School art teacher Ren Taylor, graphic designer Chris Jenness and manager of Frames and Things Brian Erwin.

Senior center seeks art

The Soldotna Senior Citizens Center is seeking artists to display artwork at the center for a month at a time, beginning in 2010. Artists will be responsible for putting art up and taking it down. For more information, call 262-2322.

Kids' reading program continues

Triumvirate Bookstore in the Peninsula Center Mall in Soldotna is hosting a Frequent Reading Program.

Kids may sign up at the bookstore, pick out one free book, a reading calendar and program rules.

Bookstore hours are noon to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays.
