Cordova takes King of Mountain

The Cordova wrestling team won the King of the Mountain tournament on Saturday in Seward.

The event was a dual-meet tournament. Cordova topped Seward 48-36 in the championship dual meet to finish the tournament undefeated. Kenai Central freshman Hope Steffensen was named the most outstanding wrestler at the tournament.

The tournament also named a superior wrestler in each weight class. Steffensen won at 103, Colony's Bradley Aga won at 112, Seward's Jed Wilde won at 119, Nikiski's Nathan Stangle won at 125, Nikiski's Josh Brown won at 130, Nikiski's Kovi Harbick won at 135, Cordova's Kyle Mundy won at 140, Cordova's Seth Balint at 145, Cordova's Blake Platt at 152, Homer's Mitch Wyatt at 160, Cordova's Bryan Carillo at 171, Seward's Bill Markowitz at 189, Seward's Kyle Kain at 215 and Voznesenka's Leo Polushkin at 285.
