Propositions need to be passed

Oct. 2 we have the opportunity to establish a necessary fresh start in the KPB on three items.

Term limits: Repetitive terms on the borough assembly and school board lead to stagnation. They curtail fresh ideas, promote coziness, open the door to quasi conflicts of interest and the possibility of corruption. The term limit proposition should be passed.

Property tax exemption cap: Lowering the property tax exemption in the borough should be capped at the proposed $300,000 for seniors and disabled veterans. It does not go far enough, but it is a start toward tax equalization. It should be passed.

Election of borough attorney: The borough attorney should represent the borough residents, not just the borough mayor. It is a well-known fact that an appointed individual is somewhat beholden to the appointing authority. This proposition also needs to be passed.

We desperately need to pass these propositions.
