Mystery Creek Access Road opens Friday

Staff report

Robin L. West, Refuge Manager of Kenai National Wildlife Refuge, announced the seasonal opening of the Mystery Creek Access Road and a portion of the Alaska Pipeline Company's right-of-way corridor. The road opening will be Friday and will run through Oct. 21. The pipeline corridor may be closed earlier than scheduled to prevent surface damage should weather and road conditions dictate, or in the case of fire in the area.

West also reminds road and corridor users that there may be areas of standing water with soft bottoms and he discourages the use of two-wheel drive vehicles. Travel on the road and pipeline corridor will be at the user's own risk. Users also are reminded to limit vehicle travel to the established road and right-of-way.

Traveling east of the pipeline right-of-way is not authorized beyond the eastern bank of the Moose River's East Fork. All-terrain vehicles (three- or four-wheelers, etc.) are not authorized on Mystery Creek Road or any other part of the refuge.
