Remsen, Iverson wed in Florida

Karlyn Janelle Remsen of Kenai and James Peter "Paddy" Iverson of Soldotna were married in a sunset ceremony, Wednesday, June 4, 2008, at Siesta Beach in Sarasota, Fla. The groom's uncle, Scott Anderson, of Kenai, officiated.

The bride is the daughter of Kevin and Kimb Remsen of Kenai. She is a 2005 graduate of Kenai Central High School. She attended the University of Alaska Anchorage for one year and graduated from Trendsetters in 2007. Karlyn is employed as a hairdresser at Haircutters in Kenai.

The groom is the son of Pete and Heidi Iverson of Soldotna. He is a 2006 graduate of Skyview High School. James is employed as a fishing guide with High Adventure Air Charters.

The wedding reception was a family barbecue and picnic held Friday, June 27, at the Chevron Recreation Site in Nikiski. More than 200 guests and family members attended, including Grandfather William Remsen, from Washington; Uncle Mike and Aunt Angie Nichols; Uncle Greg and Aunt Jill Krause; cousins, Jessica and Savannah Nichols from Anchorage; Grandmother Mary Lou Iverson of Washington; and cousins Matthew and McKenna Iverson from Washington.

The couple was accompanied to Florida by both families, including Paddy's parents; brothers, Gradey and Wiley Iverson from Soldotna; grandmothers Mary Lou Iverson and Rowelene Machen from Kenai; Uncle Scott Anderson and Aunt Sari Anderson from Kenai; cousin Danielle Milliron from Kenai; Karlyn's parents; and siblings, Kelsie, Kendra and Keegan Remsen from Kenai.

Activities included Disney World, Busch Gardens, Universal Studios and watching the Space Shuttle launch from Cocoa Beach.

The newlyweds honeymooned on a five-day cruise to Jamaica and the Cayman Islands.

The couple lives in Soldotna and plans to move to Colorado in the fall for Paddy's college education.
