You stepped out of the light and into the darkness, of our political bad dream, as a real breath of fresh air, and suddenly, we believed, we had a chance for acceptance by the nation as a whole. But you stumbled into the sea of politics, and when you fell we fell with you. And we may, now, never completely recover from this.

Yes, you played the high stakes game and you lost, and, yes, some of us lost with you. But Alaska's clock is still running, and if you hurry you may yet be able to keep your promises to us. And, yes, Alaska will still love you -- even if you should fall again Sarah.
