Tea Party Patriots to gather

Kenai Peninsula Tea Party Patriots will march in the Kenai July 4 parade, as well as gather at Hutchings Chevrolet immediately following the parade.

The group plans to voice its dissatisfaction with the government spending. Parade lineup at 11 a.m. Saturday on Trading Bay Road in Kenai and 1:30 p.m. at Hutchings Chevrolet in Soldotna. For more information, e-mail William Keller at keller_ak@hotmail.com.

Unity run set to take off

The sixth annual Kenai/ Soldotna Unity run will be held July 18 on the Unity Trail between Kenai and Soldotna.

The event is coordinated by the Kenai, Soldotna and Kenai River Rotary clubs as a fundraiser to benefit community and international projects. The run includes a 5K and 10 mile event and is geared toward all levels of ability.

The event begins at 9 a.m. at Soldotna High School. Runners may register the day of the event, or go to www.soldotnarotary.org for advance registration. To become an event sponsor, call Barbara Gayer at 252-7252 or for race information, call George Jedlicka at 953-2576.

Pet photos run on the Pets page every Tuesday. They can be color or black and white and may include people. Limit one photo per household. They may be e-mailed to news@peninsulaclarion.com, dropped off at the Kenai office or mailed to the Clarion at P.O. Box 3009, Kenai, 99611. A brief explanation of the photo, the pet's and owner's names, owner's address and phone number must be included.

The Clarion is seeking recipes to include in its Wednesday Food section. Send recipes to news@peninsulaclarion.com, fax them to 283-3299 or drop them by the office at 150 Trading Bay Drive in Kenai. Name, address, contact number and brief description of how you came up with or came by the recipe is needed. Recipes will be printed in the order received and as space is available.
