Shaping up

Heavy rain in Soldotna did not hinder carpenter Dan Piatt from working on a brace supporting the concrete mold for the foundation of the Central Peninsula General Hospital addition Monday. CPGH Cheif Executive Officer David Gilbreath said the contractor, AlCan General Inc., is making "good progress," as the foundation is roughly 35 percent finished. "The contractor brought in some pre-fab foundation forms and they've finished work on the foundations for elevators. Now they're starting on concrete for the walls," Gilbreath said. AlCan is still on target for the October-November 2006 completion date. "AlCan General has been an excellent contractor to work with," Gilbreath said.
