Help needed at Women's Resource Center

The Women's Resource and Crisis Center is inviting community members to volunteer at the shelter or transitional living center or with the nutrition and child care programs.

Anchor Point sale on

There will be a yard sale and flea market at the Anchor Point Senior Center today from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Hot food and drinks will be available. To reserve a table, call 235-7786.

Visitor center to hold summer program

The Kenai Visitors and Cultural Center will feature Ricky Gease on Monday. He will present a historical view of traditional and contemporary economies of the Dena'ina -- subsistence, trade, cash and corporate.

North peninsula council to hold meeting

There will be board and general membership meeting of the North Peninsula Community Council on Tuesday at 7 p.m. It will be held at the Nikiski Senior Center. Public is welcome.

Community library book club to meet at Veronica's

The Kenai Community Library Book Club will hold its annual meeting on Tuesday at Veronica's Coffee Shop at 7 p.m. The book for the month is Indian Killer, by Sherman Alexie.

Kenai chamber luncheon scheduled

The speaker for this week's Kenai Chamber of Commerce luncheon is Dan Travis, director of Veteran's Employment and Training Services for the state of Alaska.

Meetings are open to the public and held on Wednesdays at Paradisos restaurant starting at noon. For more information, call 283-7989.

Small business center to hold computer workshop

The Small Business Development Center is sponsoring a workshop about professional Web sites given by David Edward-Smith of Borealis Designs on Thursday.

It runs from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Economic Development District, Mile 14.5 Kenai Spur Highway.

Topics will include target marketing, defining goals, browser capability and search engine placement. The workshop is free. Call for reservations, 283-3335.
