Minnesota man killed in collision

A Minnesota man died in head-on collision on Kalifornsky Beach Road on Saturday afternoon.

Donn P. Johnson, 53, of Cass Lake, Minn., was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics from Central Emergency Services, according to Tim DeSpain, public information officer for Alaska State Troopers.

Troopers received a report about 5 p.m. that a 2003 Honda Element, driven by Elizabeth Miller, 54, of Soldotna, struck Johnson's 2000 Hyundai at the corner of Community College Road and K-Beach in Soldotna.

DeSpain said an investigation determined the crash occurred in Johnson's lane. His next of kin has been notified.

DeSpain also said Miller was taken to Central Peninsula Hospital, treated and later released. There is no preliminary indication that drugs or alcohol were a factor in the collision, he said.
