Soldotna Pool


The Soldotna High School Swimming Pool has something for all ages and abilities. For those wanting to learn how to swim, lessons are available for children as young as 3. Group or private lessons are available with an American Red Cross certified instructor.

There will be five sessions of swimming lessons, most consisting of 10 lessons each. Starting dates are June 1 (this session will have only nine lessons), June 14, June 28, July 12 and July 26. Lessons are Monday through Friday. The cost is $40.

Level 1 classes are 25 minutes long and are for 3 and 4 year olds. There is an average of one instructor for every five swimmers. Times are 10:45 a.m., 12:55 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.

Level II through IV classes are 40 minutes long and are for swimmers 5 years old and older. There is an average of one instructor for every seven swimmers. Times are 10 a.m., 10:45 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 12:15 p.m., 4 p.m. and 4:45 p.m.

Private lessons are 30 minutes long.

The pool also is available to rent for $35 an hour. Rentals are available after 6 p.m. on weekdays and all day on weekends. Renting the pool provides the opportunity to test one's fishing equipment, life jackets, commercial fishing gear, kayak, boating safety and scuba diving.

The pool's summer schedule Monday through Friday is:

6 to 8 a.m.: lap swim;

8 to 10 a.m.: Soldotna Silver Salmon Swim Team;

10 a.m. to 1 p.m.: swim lessons;

1 to 2 p.m.: independent therapy and lap swim;

2 to 3:45 p.m.: open swim;

4 to 6 p.m.: swim lessons.
