Description:This is a summer program for students in first through sixth grades. Lots of mini-courses will be available, including dancing and art. Students in first through third grades will spend 30 minute daily on reading and math skills; older students will spend an hour daily on those topics.
The theme will be "Under the Water." There will be trips to Homer where students will look at tide pools. Geology Professor Ray Humby will be at both sessions to explore rocks and fossils. There will be an outing to Fossil Beach to discover real fossils.
There will be an emphasis on civic awareness. One activity will be to garden at the Kenai Peninsula Food Bank. All activities are chosen by the children and an alternative activity will be provided.
Ages: Students in first through sixth grades
Dates: Session No. 1 ‹ June 7-30; Session No. 2 ‹ July 2-30
Hours: 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Cost: $125 per session; scholarships available
