Moose Pass teen in critical shape: Highway wreck near Crown Point injures 1

A Moose Pass teenager lies in critical condition at Alaska Native Medical Center in Anchorage from injuries sustained in a car accident.

According to a press release by Alaska State Troopers, Donald Smith III, 16, of Moose Pass, ran a stop sign at the intersection of the Seward Highway and Road 3532 in the community of Crown Point on Saturday.

When he crossed the highway, Smith's red Honda motorcycle collided with a tan 1999 Ford pickup driven by Brian Morris, 37, of Moose Pass.

Both vehicles immediately caught on fire.

Troopers came across the accident at about 2:05 p.m. Smith was taken to Seward Providence Medical Center and airlifted to Alaska Native Medical Center in Anchorage for treatment.

Morris and his passenger were not injured.
