ANCHORAGE (AP) -- A man accused of multiple rapes has pleaded not guilty to a 10-count indictment.

John N. Hunter, 39, pleaded not guilty Monday to five charges of rape, plus assault and robbery.

Police said they identified Hunter with help from the state DNA database. Hunter was arrested in Texas in April and waived extradition to Alaska.

The indictment, returned May 2, accuses Hunter of assaulting five women between 1996 and this January in Anchorage and Palmer.
