* The American Friends Service Committee in cooperation with People for Peace and Justice will honor fallen U.S. military personnel and Iraqi civilians with the traveling exhibition "Eyes Wide Open: The Cost of War to Alaska" from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday at Pioneer Park on the Sterling Highway adjacent to Soldotna Creek Park. The exhibit presents a memorial to those who have fallen and asks whether any war can justify human cost. It will include a pair of boots for each Alaskan soldier killed in Iraq, shoes representing Iraqi civilian casualties and a visual display showing the human costs of war to communities.

* The Kenai Potters Guild will sell pottery from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. The proceeds will benefit its pottery studio. For more information, call Peggy Gill Thompson at 283-7827.
Events and Exhibits
* Artist Without Borders will present a show of impressionistic paintings by French artist Richard Bornengo of Kasilof from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday through the end of the month upstairs at the 4-D Interiors conference room on the corner of Marydale and the Kenai Spur Highway.
* Art Works in Soldotna will host the Kenai Peninsula College's spring digital photography students in digital color, intermediate and experimental photography through the end of the month. Techniques will range from digital infra-red and solarization, Polaroid emulsion transfers, darkroom prints from digital negatives, black and white landscape, expressive color abstracts, portraits and color landscape.
* Kaladi Brothers Artist of the Month is Susanna Evins.
* The Kasilof Historical Society's cabin museum is open from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays or by appointment. It has historical displays and area artists and crafters are invited to display their work on weekends. The cabin is at Mile 1.5 Kalifornsky Beach Road. For more information, call Dave at 262-5125.
* The Kenai Visitors and Cultural Center at 11471 Kenai Spur Highway will kick-off its summer art show "Alaskan Light: Mystery Revealed" with a reception from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at the center. Food, drinks and a silent auction are planned. More than 50 works of art that range in media will be on display through Sept. 9. The cost of admission after Memorial Day is $3 per person. The center also displays animal mounts, historic items and Alaska Native artifacts. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays. * The Kenai National Wildlife Refuge Visitors Center on Ski Hill Road outside Soldotna shows films on wildlife, the refuge and the history of the area daily at noon, 1, 2, 3 and 4 p.m.

* AmVets Post No. 4 in the Red Diamond Center on Kalifornsky Beach Road has karaoke at 8 p.m. Saturday and blind darts at 2:30 p.m. Sundays.
* Bluegrass jam sessions at 6:30 p.m. Thursdays at the Kenai Senior Citizens Center. On the first Thursday of the month sessions are at Christ Lutheran Church in Soldotna.

* The Pratt Museum in Homer will host "Kachemak Bay: An Exploration of People and Place," a redesign of the museum's main galleries, with Phase I completed in 2004. Community-based videos, photo essays, computer interactives, and visitor-controlled remote video technology will visitors beyond the museum walls to historic and contemporary life around Kachemak Bay, providing an intimate means of understanding people and place; "Concerning Climate Change," an art and science collaboration exploring the ways in which people affect the environment and how they can affect change. The exhibit is a part of the museum's year-long initiative to help the community and visitors understand and respond to environmental change. It will be on display through May.; The Shorebird Festival welcome reception will be held at 4 p.m. Friday.; A "Feathers and Folding" workshop will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday.; International Museum Day will be observed from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. May.
