Houston resident Frank Richard Moore died Friday, April 30, 2004, in Sterling. He was 54.
Private services will be held.
Mr. Moore was born Nov. 6, 1949, in Spokane, Wash. He graduated from Lewis and Clark High School in Spokane. He also graduated from the Matanuska-Susitna College in Palmer with honors in 2004.
Mr. Moore served in the U.S. Army from September 1968 to October 1971. He was in Vietnam from March 1969 through September 1970. He moved to Alaska in 1973, living in Anchorage. He moved to Soldotna in 1976, then returned to Anchorage. He later moved to Houston. He was a commercial glazier and was self-employed.
Mr. Moore loved fishing and hunting. He also loved flying and owned his own plane.
"Richard loved Alaska and everything it had to offer. He worked very hard and was respected in his profession of glazing. He always looked forward to the time he could explore the outdoors or figure out a new way to fish or hunt. He was welcomed and loved by all," his family said.
Mr. Moore was preceded in death by his father, Frank Joseph Moore and his grandparents.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather, LaVon Moore-Nelson and Bill Nelsen of Surprise, Ariz.; brother, Michael Moore of Sterling; sister and brother-in-law, Andrea and Greg McCracken of Belfair, Wash.; aunt, Delphine Elgee-Gage of Anchorage; cousins, John Elgee and family of Wasilla, George Elgee and family of Juneau, and Kim (Elgee) Alfonso and family of Wasilla; stepmother, Jeanne Moore of Spokane; nephew, Bryan McCracken and niece Erin McCracken, both of Belfair; and two great-nieces of Belfair.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Peninsula Mental Health, 312 Tyee St., Soldotna, AK 99669.
