Goldstein doubles at Bartlett Chaos

Soldotna High School's Ari Goldstein built upon her solid 2004 track and field season with wins in both the 800 and 1600 meter runs Saturday at the Bartlett Chaos Meet in Anchorage.

Goldstein's times in both events (2:22.56 in the 800 and 5:13.1 in the 1600) were the fastest run in the state this season.

Soldotna was forced to compete in the Bartlett meet after the Palmer Invitational was canceled due to poor air conditions created when Palmer was hit by a dust storm.

Other Stars to place Saturday on the girls side included Rachel McCarten (3rd in the 800), Katie Franzmann (5th in the 1600), and Tracy Pitts (6th in the 400).

For the SoHi boys, Brian Chase earned a fourth place finish in the 300 meter hurdles.
