Personal Protection-Alaska Concealed Carry with Pat Johnson, NRA certified instructor ‹ This class is designed for those with little or no experience handling firearms.
The first session will cover how to recognize and avoid potentially dangerous situations, while the second will discuss bear protection and proper care and storage of firearms. The class also includes a trip to the rifle range and the firing of handguns.
The Personal Protection course is the same as the Alaska Concealed Carry course, but without a required range score or written test. The class meets from 6 to 10 p.m. May 14 and from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 15 at Homer High School. The cost for Personal Protection is $50, or $45 for those 55 and older; the cost for Concealed Carry is $90, or $85 for those 55 and older. Preregistration is required.
