Timothy 'Tim' Frank Woodward

Longtime Soldotna resident Timothy "Tim" Frank Woodward died Tuesday, April 28, 2009, with his family by his side after a battle with cancer. He was 55.

To honor his request, there will be no services.

Mr. Woodward was born Aug. 23, 1953, to Gloria and George Woodward in St. Paul, Minn. As a young man, he met his lifelong love, Terri Nohava, in Omaha, Neb. They were married Aug. 26, 1981. They had two children. Mr. Woodward's passion was his floor covering business. At the age of 14, he got his first job in the floor covering trade. He moved his family to Alaska in 1983, which is when he opened Tim's Floor Covering and began contracting through local businesses.

"Over his career, he became well known for his quality work and attention to detail. His passion for the trade shines through to his son, Micheal and two nephews, Scott and David. He took great pride in teaching them all he knew about the business," his family said. "He was very proud of these accomplishments. He loved to spend time with his daughter, Angela. They shared many road trips and always enjoyed their quality father-daughter time together, never wasting a minute. Angela truly was 'Daddy's little girl.' Mr. Woodward loved his family and enjoyed his four grandchildren very much," his family said.

He loved fishing and camping in the wilderness of Alaska with his family. He also loved to spend time fishing on his aunt and uncle's farm in North Dakota.

"Tim shared his life experiences as a loving father who always wanted the best for his family. He was one of the most generous and kind men you'll ever meet. He was always there for his family and friends no matter the situation, always without judgment. His funny stories, silly dance and contagious laugh will be memories forever. Until the day comes when we see him again, we will cherish our memories and never stop telling his stories," his family said.

Mr. Woodward was preceded in death by his father, George Woodward.

He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Terri Woodward of Soldotna; daughter, Angela Lindsey and her husband, Justin, of Missouri; son, Micheal Woodward and his wife, Rebecca Kesinger, of Soldotna; grandchildren, Kyla, Haily, Zaylee and Reagen; mother, Gloria Woodward of Nebraska; brothers, Randy Woodward of Florida, Steve Woodward and his wife, Donna, of Nebraska; sister and her partner, Pam and Debbie Poe of Florida; sister-in-law, Michelle Woodward; nephews, Scott Woodward and his wife, Mindi, of Soldotna, David Woodward and his wife, Lindsey, of Oregon; niece, Kelly Johnson and her husband, Nathan; nieces and nephews, Ellyce, Hunter, Alexandra and Cameron, all of Soldotna; as well as many more family members in the Lower 48.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be sent to Terri Woodward, C/O Peninsula Memorial Chapel, 5839 Kenai Spur Highway, Kenai, Alaska 99611.

Arrangements were by Peninsula Memorial Chapel.
