Tustamena Elementary

The PTO is sponsoring a spring poetry contest for students in grades one through six. The contest deadline is May 7. Cash prizes of $15, $10 and $5 will be awarded to the top three places in each grade level. Parents at the school are encouraged to take a look at the parent room door, where all the entries for the winter poetry contest are posted.

Sea Week is here with all the classes participating. Instructional units, as well as the decorating of doors and bulletin boards with this theme, are featured throughout the building. This topic has become an annual event in order to commemorate those many early inhabitants of the Kasilof area who depended upon fishing for a living. Mrs. Blossom is coordinating the activities for this event, with the highlight being a daily trivia contest delivered during the morning announcements.

Teacher Appreciation Week is May 3 to 7. There are special "Thanks U's" planned for the staff that week, but parents may wish to contribute by simply thanking a teacher in person or in writing via a note sent with a child.

The annual kindergarten visitation begins at 10 a.m. May 11. The visitation is open only to those children who have been preregistered prior to that date.
