Mountain View Elementary

All volunteers are invited to a volunteer luncheon at noon Thursday in the library.

The third-grade music program will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday, followed by the band performance at 7.

Friday is Pajama Day.

Mr. Knudsen and Mr. Vedders' third-grade students were busy last week tapping birch trees in the forest behind the school. Students collected about 15 gallons of sap and boiled it down to produce a little more than a cup of syrup. Students enjoyed ice cream and homemade birch syrup Friday afternoon.

The third-graders in Mr. Knudsen's class recently enjoyed their interview with Jim Montgomery, a safety adviser for British Petroleum. Mr. Montgomery shared his expertise and knowledge about goal setting, safety and community service with the students. The students were excited to read about Mr. Montgomery's Alaska First Lady's Volunteer of the Year award.
