First-graders also are looking forward to the hatching of chicks, expected by today.

Title I and the fifth-grade class are hosting Family Math Night Thursday. Pizza, pop and goodies will be available for sale at 5:30 p.m., and games will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Students must be accompanied by an adult to attend.

Mrs. Krieger and Mrs. McBee's kindergarten classes are preparing for field trips. They will visit Twin Cities Veterinary Clinic on Friday and the Salmon Celebration at Johnson Lake on Tuesday.

Mrs. McBee's class is incubating eggs this year. The one gosling and seven ducklings are due to hatch May 9. As they wait for their eggs to hatch, students are learning about all types of birds and how they are similar and different.

Mr. Daniels' class is making simple machine mobiles. Students took apart old machines and found they are made of many tiny machines. They will use the parts to make the mobiles.

The fourth-grade is going on a tide pool adventure with park rangers from Homer. Students are studying intertidal organisms in preparation.

Fifth-grade D.A.R.E. graduation will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday.
