Kenai Post Office open for late filers

Staff report

Central Kenai Peninsula residents planning to wait until the last minute to file their 2003 federal income tax returns are in luck.

Although area post offices will close at the usual times today, the Kenai Post Office will have a drop box inside its main building available for late drop-offs until 11:59 p.m.

According to postal employees, any mail deposited in the special drop box before the midnight tax deadline will receive an April 15 postmark. This service is only available at the Kenai Post Office, so procrastinators from Soldotna, Nikiski, Sterling and Kasilof should plan accordingly.
