Golfers enjoy long Alaska summer days

Alaskans have a shorter summer in which to golf, but longer summer days in which they can golf.

There's three golf courses on the central Kenai Peninsula for those who feel like squeezing birdies and eagles into the Alaska wildlife experience.

The Birch Ridge Golf Course and driving range is on the Sterling Highway east of Soldotna and offers a full range of amenities, including rental cottages, on its nine-hole layout.

The Kenai Golf Course, on Lawton Drive in Kenai adjacent to Coral Seymour Memor-ial Park, features an 18-hole layout.

The Cottonwood Country Club is a nine-hole, par-3 golf course with an adjacent RV park located on Kishka Drive at Mile 32 of the Kenai Spur Highway.

Greens fees at Birch Ridge are as follows: Adults ‹ $11 for nine holes and $20 for 18 holes on weekdays, $12 for nine holes and $22 for 18 holes on weekends and holidays; Seniors (65 and over) ‹ $10 for nine holes and $18 for 18 holes on weekdays, $11 for nine holes and $20 for 18 holes on weekends and holidays; Juniors ‹ $7 for nine holes and $13 for 18 holes on weekdays, $9 for nine holes and $15 for 18 holes on weekends and holidays.
