Good day to all my Nikiski neighbors. I hope you enjoy St. Patrick's Day today and also the first day of spring break.

The Weight Watchers Program will be held at 4 p.m. today at the Nikiski North Star Elementary school. The March 24 meeting has been cancelled and the March 31 meeting will be the last in the 12-week session. For more information about becoming a group leader or attending a meeting, call Sharon at 262-7534.

The Nikiski Community Recreation Center will offer a spring break kid's camp Tuesday through Thursday at the center for kids in first- through sixth-grade. The cost is $5 per day and includes gym activities, arts, crafts, cooking and more. For more information, call Tammy at 776-8800.

The Nikiski Chamber of Commerce will meet at noon Thursday at the Nikiski Community Recreation Center. The speaker will be Robert Peterkin. For more information, contact Cindy Holloway at cholloway.mentalmagic@alaska.net

During spring break, the Nikiski pool and waterslide will be open one hour longer. Tuesday through Friday, the pool will be open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and then 6 to 9 p.m. On Saturday and Sunday, hours will be 1 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. The waterslide will open each day at 1 p.m. and close when the pool closes. A game night will be held at 6 p.m. Friday at the Nikiski Senior Center. For more information, call 776-7654.

An Easter breakfast will be held at the Nikiski Senior Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday. An egg hunt will begin at 1:30 p.m. at the center.

The adult dodgeball season begins March 24. Co-ed teams are forming and the league plays at 6:30 p.m. Mondays at the Nikiski Community Recreation Center. For more information, call Tammy at 776-8800.

The North Peninsula Recreation Service Area will hold a monthly board meeting at 7 p.m. March 25 at the Nikiski pool.

A teen night will be held March 28 at the Nikiski Community Recreation Center from 7 to 10 p.m.

The Nikiski Senior Center will hold a spring bazaar from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 3 and 4 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 5. Various goods will be available, including jewelry, beauty products, quilts, baked goods and locally grown mushrooms. Table space is $15 per day or three days for $30. The Nikiski North Star fourth- and fifth-graders will perform their version of "High School Musical" on April 15. The group has been working hard to bring the Disney Channel favorite to life for the community.
