Writer disagrees with letter
Letter to the Editor

As a Christian and a Catechumen in the Catholic Church, I am writing in response to a letter aimed at atheist printed Jan. 29.

I wholeheartedly disagree with the authors statement. As Christians we are called on to bare witness and evangelize the lost.

We are called on to help the poor, comfort the lonely and heal the sick.

Forcing atheists from their homes and deporting them overseas does not accomplish either of these efforts.

In fact, it would only serve to make their worlds more difficult. At least I do not recall Jesus or any of the Apostles exiling nonbelievers. Rather they became friends, helping them however they could, teaching them and baring witness.

Also I’d like to ask the author’s view on non-Christian faiths. Buddhism (the state of Hawaii has a Buddhist majority), Hinduism, Druidism and many more.
